Think has second thoughts about IceRocket

June 8, 2006

Update from Blake at IceRocket: “Our LOI with Think Partnership expired, which does not mean the acquisition is off. Their company is going through some changes and we are seeing how they play out.  Still in very close contact with those people and working with them, had a great conversation with their CEO just yesterday.”

Andy Beal is reporting that the interim CEO for Think Partnership has announced that they are not going to acquire Dallas based IceRocket afterall. Evidently, the company has been going through leadership changes (CEO, COO, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Board Member) , a headquarters move (to Flordia), and a general shift in direction. They decided that acquiring a struggling search engine would not help their situation and maybe Blake (questions about his existence still linger) did not want to move to Florida.

According to ClickZ, Think seems to back out of deals on a regular basis. They agreed to buy Crystal Reference, but changed their mind. They also agreed to buy Proceed Interactive and again changed their mind.

Who said we were struggling? Revenues are higher than ever and things are great.

I guess what I am saying is that you are struggling relative to Google. I am sure things are super!

We aren’t trying to be Google or Yahoo. We are trying to offer a great service that is free to users and run a profitable company. So far we have been able to do those things.
